2022 Hymn Illustration Contest

Eligibility

  • Contest open to entrants worldwide.
  • Participants must be at least 13 years of age as of January 7, 2022.
  • Participants must not appear on the ITA's Consolidated Screening List or be a resident of a country with which the U.S. Government prohibits business transactions.
  • Entries must be wholly the work of one individual (no group or team efforts).
  • Void where prohibited by law.

Entries

  • A participant may submit one entry for each listed hymn, up to a maximum of 16 total entries per individual.
  • All entries must be received by 12:01 pm Central Daylight Time on May 16, 2022.
  • All entries must include a signed entry form, indicating acceptance of these terms.
  • Submit entries to contests@kloria.com with the subject "Hymn Illustration Contest Submission." All submissions will be acknowledged.

Judging

  • Judging will be conducted by a panel comprising the owners of Kloria Publishing.
  • Judges will follow the grading scales included in the downloadable guidelines.
  • Winners will be announced on or before June 30, 2022. Decision of the judges is final.

Prizes

All prizes include the chance of publication, with the possibility of additional royalties. One set of prizes will be awarded per category:

Large Book Category

Large books are 8" square with 7 or 8 spreads. They must use traditional fine art media.

  • One grand prize: $3000
  • One second prize: $2000
  • One third prize: $1000
  • Five runners-up: $250 each

Small Book Category

Small books are approx. 6" square with 6 spreads.

  • One grand prize: $1000
  • One second prize: $750
  • One third prize: $500
  • Five runners-up: $100 each

Grant of Rights

  • All entrants grant Kloria Publishing an exclusive license to their artwork.
  • If an entry is not selected for publication, Kloria will release the associated license on or before December 31, 2022.
  • If an entry is selected for publication, Kloria will send a formal agreement narrowing the license scope and providing for supplemental royalties after a certain number of sales.

Students & Teachers

If an entrant is receiving art instruction and makes a winning submission, then his instructor will receive an additional cash prize, equal to 10% of the entrant's cash prize.

Hymn List & Specifications

All entries must illustrate one of the 16 listed hymn options according to the detailed templates and specifications, which are available for download to newsletter subscribers.
